These DREAMY Hot Honey Beef Bowls combine homemade hot honey, crispy sweet potatoes and spicy beef taco mince with creamy cottage cheese and avocado for the BEST lunch ever, ready in under 30 minutes and naturally gluten free.

What you need to know at-a-glance:
- Why choose this recipe? There’s a reason these Hot Honey Beef Bowls have gone viral on TikTok! The hot, spicy taco beef and crisp roasted sweet potatoes contrasts SO well with the cold, creamy cottage cheese and avocado. All smothered in sweet and spicy honey – I added tenderstem for extra veg too.
- Top Tip: Make your own homemade hot honey instead of trying to find it in the shops – you won’t believe how simple it is!
- Gluten Free: This recipe is naturally gluten free, great for coeliacs!
- Batch Cooking: These hot honey bowls are so good for meal prep. Make a big batch of beef and sweet potatoes to reheat before eating – or enjoy them cold!

Ingredients and Substitutions
There’s a printable recipe card below for these viral hot honey beef and sweet potato bowls. But here are the main ingredients and ideas for any swaps.
- Hot Honey: You can buy hot honey but I much prefer to make my homemade hot honey recipe. It takes less than 15 minutes to make and it’s so easy!
- Beef Mince: I use lean ground beef – with 5% fat. You can use any beef mince you like, or even swap for chicken mince or turkey mince.
- Taco Seasoning: I use half a pack of shop-bought taco seasoning, which is around 2 tbsp. Just ensure the one you’re using is gluten free, like Old El Paso.
- Cottage Cheese: For me it has to be full fat – it’s so much creamier!
- Sweet Potato: You can buy pre-chopped or frozen, but it’s much cheaper to just prepare your own sweet potatoes. And only takes a few moments.
- Tenderstem Broccoli: I wanted to add some green into this hot honey bowl – feel free to use your favourite veg, or add some spinach leaves for a cold version.
- Avocado: A nice, ripe avocado adds the perfect, creamy contrast to the crunchy potato chunks and spicy beef.

How to Make Hot Honey Beef Bowls
There’s a printable recipe card below with the method. But here are some step-by-step photos to show you how easy these hot honey sweet potato and ground beef bowls are.
To start off with, if you’re making your own hot honey you’ll need to follow my simple hot honey recipe – this only takes 15 minutes to make and you’ll have enough to use for weeks!

Peel the sweet potatoes, then chop into bite-size chunks. Toss them in a bowl with a little olive oil, along with the salt and smoked paprika.
Lay the sweet potato chunks in the air fryer basket and air fry at 200C for 15-20 minutes, tossing half way through. For oven cooking instructions see the recipe card below.

While the potatoes cook, add a little spray oil to a frying pan and place on a medium-high heat. Once hot, add the beef mine and taco seasoning.
Use a spatula to break the meat up, mixing well and frying until brown and starting to caramelise a little on the edges. Remove from the heat.
Cook the tenderstem broccoli – I do this by steaming it for 3-4 minutes over a pan of hot water.

Then it’s simply a case of dividing everything – the beef mince, sweet potatoes, broccoli, avocado and cottage cheese – evenly between the two bowls.
And then the grand finale – drizzle 1-2 tbsp hot honey all over the bowls for that fiery kick!
Tips for Batch Cooking This Recipe
I recommend cooking the beef mince and the sweet potato chunks in bulk, then keeping them in the fridge in sealed containers. They will keep for up to 3 days.
That way you can prepare a few day’s worth and just reheat and add the cold components each time. Or enjoy it cold – it tastes just as good!
The avocado and cottage cheese are best portioned fresh, and you can change up the broccoli for salad leaves for a cold lunch if you’re taking this to work/school.

I have a huge favour to ask! It’s getting more and more difficult to get my recipes out there to the world – so if you try this and love it, it would mean a HUGE amount if you’d come back and leave a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ review and a little comment telling me what you thought! Peel the sweet potatoes, then chop into bite-size chunks. Toss them in a bowl with a little olive oil, along with the salt and smoked paprika.
To air fry the sweet potatoes:
Lay the sweet potato chunks in the air fryer basket (in one even layer) and air fry at 200C for 15-20 minutes, tossing half way through, until crisp.
To oven cook the sweet potatoes:
Alternatively, preheat the oven to 200C / Fan 180C / Gas Mark 6 / 392F and lay the potato chunks out on a baking sheet in one even layer. Roast for 20-25 minutes, turning them halfway, until crisp.
Meanwhile cook the beef mince:
While the potatoes cook, add a little spray oil to a frying pan and place on a medium-high heat. Once hot, add the beef mine and taco seasoning.
Use a spatula to break the meat up, mixing well and frying until brown and starting to caramelise a little on the edges. Remove from the heat.
To construct the bowls:
Cook the tenderstem broccoli – I do this by steaming it for 3-4 minutes over a pan of hot water. You can also add them to the air fryer for the final 5 minutes of cooking the potatoes, for more ‘charred’, crunchy broccolini.
Once the potatoes and beef have cooked, divide them between two bowls. Divide the tenderstem broccoli between the bowls, then peel and slice the avocado and potion this between the servings.
Split the cottage cheese between the two bowls then drizzle each bowl with 1-2 tbsp hot honey. Serve straight away.
- Storage: Any leftover, made-up bowls will keep overnight in the fridge, but the avocado may go a bit brown (I recommend adding fresh each time!) To batch cook, store the cooked components individually and construct each bowl before eating.
- Hot Honey Recipe: If you want to make your own hot honey (it only takes 3 ingredients and 15 minutes max!) then check out my hot honey recipe. It’s so much more fun (and cheaper) than buying it from the store.

- Like this Recipe? It would mean SO much to me if you could leave a 5* rating and a little comment if you make this Hot Honey Beef Bowls recipe and love it. It really helps support my blog and get the recipe out there to more people! Thank you xx
