Creme Brulee is my favorite dessert. Every time I see it on the dessert menu, I HAVE to order it, no matter how full I am.

I have always been intimidated to make Creme Brulee at home because of its complicated process.

My Instant Pot Creme Brulee recipe came from an accident. I’ve been working on a simple Chawanmushi – Japanese Steamed Egg Custard for the past few weeks, and I thought … what if we made Creme Brulee?

After a few trials and errors, I am so happy and excited to share with you this fail-proof recipe that guarantees PERFECT Creme Brulee every single time. (I know because I’ve had it almost every day this week) 

The BEST Creme Brulee

It adds richness and fantastic flavor to the dish.

If you don’t like alcohol, swap with vanilla instead, and it will be delicious as well.

Make sure to seal the container with aluminum foil and let the instant pot naturally release. I like to make extra for dessert throughout the week since it can last in the fridge for 3-4 days.

Easy Creme Brulee

Ingredients 

  • 1 Egg 
  • ½ cup Milk 
  • ¼ cup of Heavy Cream 
  • 2 tbsp of Sugar 
  • 1 shot of Rum or 1 tbsp of Vanilla Extract

Creme Brulee
  1. Microwave milk and heavy cream in a bowl for 1 minute and 30 seconds or until it is warm (make sure it doesn’t bubble!) 
  2. In a separate bowl, add 1 egg and 2 tbsp of sugar. Whisk  until everything is fully combined 
  3. Slowly pour in the milk and whisking everything together. 
  4. Optional but HIGHLY recommended, add in 1 shot of rum or 1 tbsp of vanilla extract. 
  5. Strain it before pouring it into the container. Using a paper towel, lightly wipe off any bubbles so the top of smooth. Cover with tinfoil
  6. Add in 2 cups of water in the instant pot and add in the creme brulee. Pressure cook for 3 minutes. Let it naturally release, remove and rest in the fridge for 30 minutes.
  7. After 30 minutes, add in 1.5 tbsp of sugar and torch till carmelize, enjoy!
