Low calorie cooking spray – this is to make an unofficial Slimming World paprika pork for weight loss support. If not required, you can sautee the onions and garlic with a tablespoon of olive oil
Garlic cloves – these are minced, or you can use 1 teaspoon of store bought made garlic paste or 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
Red onions – these are diced or chopped to saute for the paprika sauce base. I use red onions for a hearty stew as it’s naturally sweeter and has more soothing properties for the body’s joints than regular onions
Seasoning – this is a good pinch of sea salt and ground black pepper while cooking, then to taste at the end. If in doubt, use ⅛ teaspoon pepper and ¼ teaspoon of salt, or a dash of dark soy sauce
Diced pork – I use tender pork chops for easier access and cost, then cut off any bones and visible fat. But a much leaner cut at an extra cost is pork tenderloin
Smoked paprika – this is smoky and sweet paprika for a powerful combination that doesn’t doesn’t taste healthy, but is!
Red pepper – adds sweetness and more nutrition than yellow or immature green peppers
Mushrooms – these are button chestnut mushrooms, or white mushrooms if more accessible. They turn juicy in the pot while also adding vitamin D (especially if you leave them in the sun before cooking)
Stock – I use pork, vegetable or chicken broth made up with stock cubes
Bay leaves – adds an extra soothing taste on the palette
Tomato puree – to add a pinch of sweetness to this Hungarian pork paprikash, but you could add more if desired
Fat free natural yogurt – this along with the other ingredient recommendations, I estimate there to be no syn values in this creamy sauce recipe. Alternatively, you can count cream cheese, soured cream, or creme fraiche
